Guide for Seattle Public Transportation

Seattle Public Transportation is available to get you to where your going

Public transportation in Seattle is not hard to come by. This is because aside from buses, which are the most common mode of Seattle public transportation, there are also the commuter trains, light rail service, the monorail and the most recent Seattle Street Car. So, no matter where you are going in and around the Emerald City, whether you intend to take in some sights or to sample some of its gastronomic delights of Seattle restaurants, there is always a public transportation at hand that you can avail of.

If you are at the city center and you want to experience the newest addition to the transportation system of Seattle, then you should take a ride on the Seattle Streetcar, which was started in December 12, 2007. This mode of public transportation in Seattle has made accessing the Denny Triangle, the Downtown Retail Core and the South Lake Union Areas much easier. Another mode of public transportation that you also should make sure to experience is the Seattle Center Monorail, which has quickly become the one of the people’s favorites when it comes to the skyline of the city. A fun way to access Seattle Center from downtown, this mass transit in Seattle is not only convenient but also a quick way to get to the Pacific Science Center or the Space Needle, among other venues for cultural and theatrical offerings.

Of course, if you also want to go onboard the many buses in Seattle, then you can definitely do so. There are buses provided by Metro Transit, which offers services all over the King County. With this Seattle public transportation, adults pay higher fares during the peak commuting hours of 6 to 9 am and 3 to 6 pm than during non-peak hours. For other riders, like students and senior citizens, fares remain the same all throughout the day. Other bus companies that offer public transportation in Seattle are Pierce Transit, which offers services to such towns and cities like Buckley, Lakewood, Milton, Edgewood, among others and the Community Transit, which serves majority of Snohomish County, Seattle, the University of Washington and the Eastside.

Another provider of mass transit in Seattle is Sound Transit, which is the known regional provider of transportation to Central Puget Sound. This system of mass transit connects the main housing and job centers in the counties of Pierce, King and Snohomish. As part of the Seattle public transportation system, the Express Buses of Sound Transit connects not only Seattle but also Tacoma, Bellevue and Everett with the biggest urban centers of the region. The company also has commuter trains that run between Tacoma and Everett, with its north line connecting Edmonds and Everett with Seattle in three round trips. Although, the light rail line between the Seattle Tacoma International Airport and the downtown of Seattle, which is still under Sound Transit, has yet to be completed, it is expected to bring a great improvement to the mass transit in Seattle.
